Autumn’s answer to the Museum’s popular Summertime Social, the annual Harvest Moon Festival is a great place to catch a rising star, or two. Featured band The Genuine was formed in 2012 by was husband and wife Matthew Allivato and Katelyn Allivato, later joined by Devin Forkel on drums and Gunnar Nagle on guitar and vocals. In 2013 the band issued the album “Blooms” and Matthew won the Forsyth County Entertainment Award for country/folk artist of the year. Their warm-toned, heart-on-sleeves sound is equal parts Americana, progressive folk, and pop.

As the band fiddles and harmonizes, you can play games on the lawn, make your own vegetable prints, and savor the delicious produce of the season from local farms, breweries, cider works, and food trucks.  Festival-goers will have a chance to enjoy samples as well as purchase products from a variety of local and regional vendors including Horne Creek Farm, The Screaming Radish, Small Potatoes Mobile Kitchen, Minglewood Farm and Preserve, The Children’s Home Produce Cart, Stonefield Cellars, Cafe Gelato and Patriot Pretzel Co. Winston-Salem favorites Small Batch Beer Co. and Hoots Beer Co. will offer beer tastings and purchases. The seed-saver program from Old Salem Museums & Gardens will share information about sustainability through saving heirloom plant seeds.

Blankets and lawn chairs are encouraged, and well-behaved, leashed dogs are welcome. This event will take place rain or shine.

Can we bring a picnic basket?

Yes! There will be plenty to taste and sample, but please feel free to bring a picnic!

Is this event free to Wake Forest Baptist employees? If not, what is the cost for them and is the cover charge for the samples and band?

Thanks for you question. The cost is $15 for all non-members. However, if you purchase a RAH pass ($35) you will receive admission for tonight's event, plus this fall's Reynolda Thursdays (10/15, 11/12) and the RAHliday party (12/17).
