Touring the Museum on Your Own

Reynolda House is designed for self-touring. Your Explore brochure will route you through the period rooms of the historic house and exhibition galleries. An orientation gallery and 8-minute orientation video will prepare you for the self-guided tour. Antenna audio guides with information focused on the history of Reynolda and the Museum’s fine art collection are complimentary and available on most days.

Visiting with a Group

Groups of friends, family, classes, and tourists are welcome at the Museum. To ensure the best experience for our visitors, groups of eight or more should be arranged in advance. Group tours are led by experienced docents at a special group rate.

Behind-the-Scenes Tours

The Museum offers a variety of behind-the-scenes tours regularly throughout the year. Ranging from the historic house to the original farm buildings in Reynolda Village, these tours are perfect for return visitors, as they feature content not covered on a regular visit. Check the Calendar to find the next tour.

Tours

Reynolda House welcomes groups of all interests and ages to the Museum. Groups of eight or more should be scheduled in advance of your visit and will receive discount per person admission. Guided tour experiences are offered during the Museum's regular hours, starting at 10 a.m. and no later than 3 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday, and beginning at 2 p.m. or 2:30 p.m. on Sundays. Tours are approximately 90 minutes and can be customized based on the interest of the group.

Group Tours

Reynolda House requests that reservations for guided tours of eight or more be made as far in advance as possible, and no later than two weeks in advance of your visit. Ample lead time will help guarantee your reservation on the date and time of your choosing. Please note that we cannot guarantee guided tours or the discount group rate without staff confirmation.

Group tour reservations will be confirmed in writing by Museum staff, and maps, brochures and other materials can be mailed upon request. An invoice may be requested at time of booking, but no deposit is required to secure the reservation once it has been confirmed by education staff.

Group tour admission is a discounted rate of $12 for each member of the group, with complimentary admission for tour director and driver.  For the convenience of other visitors, we request that payment for group tours be made in one transaction only. Please note: if visitors on a group tour pay individually, the Museum will charge individual admission for each guest. On-site payment can be made by cash, personal or business check made out to Reynolda House, Inc. (indicating a group tour payment), or credit card (MasterCard/VISA).

While Reynolda House is accessible to persons with disabilities, please notify us in advance of any special needs or requirements when the reservation is made so that we may better accommodate your needs. For more details, see the Accessibility page.

Groups come once a week for three weeks and tour a different part of the museum before engaging in a relevant hands-on art activity. Both the tour and art project are designed with the special needs of the participants in mind. Visitors served by this program include Exceptional Children classes from the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County schools, patients in psychiatric treatment programs, at-risk youth, mentally and physically disabled adults, and disadvantaged youth. The program is free of charge to participants.

The tour experience and art projects are designed with the special needs of the elderly in mind. Participants often come from assisted living and community programs and have a wide range of interests, abilities and backgrounds. The program is free of charge to participants and all supplies are provided. Tours are available by reservation between 9:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Tuesday through Friday.
