Scheduling Field Trips

Teachers interested in bringing their students to the museum for a field trip are encouraged to choose a thematic tour that relates the museum's art and historic collections to their subject. Tours may include a related studio art or writing activity. Classes are divided into small groups of six students to tour the museum for ninety minutes.  Within each group, every participant is encouraged to express an individual response to the artwork. Admission is $3 per student and adult chaperones are admitted free of charge.  Every student receives a family pass for a free return visit for up to four adults.  Space is limited and the museum is closed on Mondays.

To make a reservation, please contact Kathleen Hutton, Curator of Education by e-mail or phone (336) 758-5394.

Earning Renewal Credit

The Curator of Education works closely with area curriculum coordinators and school system administrators to stay informed of current educational issues in the region and across North Carolina.

For information about pre- or in-service renewal credit workshops or teacher resources, contact Kathleen Hutton by e-mail or phone (336) 758-5394.
