Due to inclement weather, this course will be re-scheduled for a later date. Ever wonder what makes a symphonic composition work? Why you prefer certain pieces over others? Why or how a composer wrote a particular piece? How to identify a musical style? The answers are easy if you matriculate at Musical "U"! This monthly course, co-taught by Wake Forest University Professor of Music David B. Levy, Winston-Salem Symphony Music Director Robert Moody, and Winston-Salem Symphony Education Director and Assistant Conductor Matthew Troy, focuses on aspects of symphonic composition and performance and highlights the music to be performed at upcoming Symphony concerts. Classes will focus on Shostakovich's Symphony no. 10 (February), Bach's Brandenburg Concertos (March), "Symphonic Forms" (April), and Mahler's Symphony no. 5 (May). February 2, March 9, April 20, and May 11, 78:30 p.m. |
