Decorative Arts

The historic house and its collections are a superb example of the American country house movement. Many of the original furnishings remain, and many rooms have been carefully restored to present an accurate picture of the interiors as they existed in the years between 1917 and 1934. Reynolda House is rare as it interprets a number of design influences, from Orientalism to Modernism. Furnishings and decorative arts are on display and, accompanied by interpretive materials, give visitors a sense of what life was like for a wealthy southern family in the early years of the 20th century.
