The walnut front legs terminate in booted pad feet and have shells with pendant bellflowers at the knees flanked by deep scrolls. The back pad feet curve gently backward. The generous seat and curved barrel-shaped back are finished with large upholstered arms that curve gently outwards. The upholstery is buttoned on the back and finished at the bottom of the skirt with large brass hobnails.

Notes:
[1] In the early 1960s Charles H. Babcock (1899-1967) gave the house and its contents to the Mary Reynolds Babcock Foundation. The house was then incorporated as a museum and collection (Reynolda House, Inc.) on December 18, 1964 with the signing of the charter at its first board meeting. The museum first opened to the public in September 1965.
